Committees

The activities of the USMTA will primarily be accomplished by committees, formed of a committee chair and volunteer members. As a start, the following committees are planned:

  • Directory committee
The task of this committee is to develop a comprehensive data base of information on places to ride, clubs, calendar of events and other riding opportunities, USMTA dealers and members. Information should be organized for website accessibility.
  • Club resource committee
The task of this committee is to develop informational materials on organizing and promoting clubs, competitions, and other riding opportunities and make these resources available via the website and printed materials. Clubs should be encouraged to become AMA member clubs hosting AMA sanctioned events with appropriate event insurance.

Guidelines for a standard convention of riding classes and skill levels, and rules for competition might be developed through a subcommittee as a part of this committee. It is expected that this committee will work within the AMA on these issues, and the USMTA fully intends to operate under AMA rules for competition.

  • Publicity committee
This committee should develop and implement strategies for increasing the visibility of the sport through written and broadcast media, with particular emphasis on trials as a participation sport for all ages. The committee should also develop marketing materials for distribution at public events and work with clubs to ensure that volunteers are present to man booths or tables at a broad spectrum of events that represent marketing opportunities. Where possible, identify opportunities for the trials exposition.
  • Trials Expo committee
Develop and organize a trials exposition for public events to introduce people to the sport through interactive media, handout materials, meeting and greeting of top riders and trials celebrities, riding demos (to include opportunities for people to try out a trials bike in a closely controlled environment, where possible), and sales of souvenir items.
